Buffalo Bills versus the New England Patriots:
The Bills, perhaps the most snake-bitten franchise in NFL history, just can't seem to catch a break. Ryan Fitzpatrick was supposed to be a great quarterback, but has fallen into obscurity. The one thing the Bills DO have going for them is C.J. Spiller, however, strangely enough, the Bills used him only six times last Sunday. Six! The guy can take it to the house on any play and they gave it to him SIX times! The Bills HAVE to give Spiller the ball more to win; this isn't a 'maybe', it's a must.
Especially against the Patriots, who can put up points on nearly every drive. In order to beat the Patriots, you must score as much as they do, as frequently as you can. Comebacks are difficult against a quarterback who can throw all over you in the final minute to win the game...with the exception of Super Bowls, of course.
The Patriots, however, will have an easy time facing the Bills this Sunday. And considering their run defense, Stevan Ridley will run all over the field on Sunday. To make it a double threat, the Pats just got off a BYE week, allowing many of their injured players, including Wes Welker, to gain some better footing as far as playing health is concerned.
I'm not expecting much from this game though. Expect the Patriots to roll over their division rivals.
Miami Dolphins:
I suppose you could make the argument that the Titans are a viable choice to win this game, but Jake Locker is coming off his weeks long injury and I usually don't take the first game back with too much salt. The Dolphins are 4-4, and going against the Titans this weekend and then the Bills, both very winnable games. Maybe the Dolphins will end up 6-4 and in the middle of the playoff hunt! Tannehill has gotten a lot better as the season has gone on, probably losing this notability to higher-profile rookie quarterbacks, like RG3 and Andrew Luck.
The Dolphins have had spectacular production from this rookie draft class! All Olivier Vernon has been a beast of a defensive end, and Jonathan Martin has been great at tackle. If Tannehill continues to improve, the Dolphins can expect a whole lot more playoff-bound seasons following this one!
New York Jets:
Oh, Rex Ryan. Oh, Mark Sanchez. Sometimes it just seems so much more likely that Rex Ryan is trying to WORSEN the Jets' locker room, rather than improve it. Losses don't do anything to help it, and this whole Sanchez-Tebow situation doesn't help at all. Maybe if Tebow was actually a passing threat, the Wildcat wouldn't be so incredibly obvious to defenses. A part of me is saddened that Tebow isn't on a team that will allow him to develop, because he's a great leader, even in he's not the best passer (see Alex Smith).
Monday takes them to the crypt, the graveyard, the sepulcher of all offenses this year- Seattle. At home, the Seahawks are the death-knell of all offenses that try and break through that 'twelve men' squad. Considering the disarray the Jets' offense in under, and the skills of Sanchez, well, don't expect much.
The only thing the Jets have going for them is that they're coming off the BYE...which doesn't mean much against this defense, which is undefeated at home.
