The Cowboys do have a pattern, at least this year. They've made an entire season out of playing like the league's worst team in the first half and then coming back in the second half as one of the league's best. It seems to happen every single week. But what happens when they play teams that can create such insurmountable leads before the Cowboys have a chance to roar back after the half? Not to discount RG3 or the Redskins. Griffin showed up with a superhuman arm to get the ball to his superhuman receivers who made superhuman plays. The Redskins had an amazingly great day, but the losers usually make the headlines, and once again the Cowboys lose because they didn't show up to the first half.
At least Kenny Chesney was there at halftime to give the fans something to root for, all at the same time showing up Tony Romo.
Despite having no running game for the Cowboys to speak of, Tony Romo put up record numbers (in the second half) and got the ball to his only play maker, Dez Bryant, to make some pretty amazing plays (the pictured play ended up incomplete). Mile Austin left in the first quarter with an injury, not to return, much to the chagrin of many fantasy owners. The Cowboys were roaring back, and Washington seemed to have stalled. But just like their game against New York, against Cleveland, the Cowboys came within a touchdown of going into overtime and they came up just short against the game clock.
I'm not sure what this phenomenon is called, but the Cowboys need to shake it if they want to have any miniscule hope of reaching the playoffs. The only problem with that idea is that a lot of other teams must lose for that to happen, and the Cowboys have to win. Considering the Giants are in their division, I don't think either of those things will happen.
